Tips for Wearing Polo Shirts
There was a time when there was a social stigma attached to shopping for big and tall men’s clothes. Many people considered shoppers in these stores “fat” and “unhealthy” and that is why so many men avoided them.
Fortunately, that stigma is no longer around, and things are just so much different. Perhaps the main reason is that clothing sizes are different now, and what used to be considered a “normal” size a long time ago is now a big and tall size. So the effect is that regular department stores and retailers are now stocking these sizes, and also many designers are doing work in these size categories, as well. Here are some hints to help you look your best in big and tall men’s clothing.
The biggest thing to remember when wearing big and tall men’s clothing is that wearing horizontal stripes is almost never a good idea. For very tall, skinny men horizontal stripes can work well, but those people with larger frames might find vertical stripes or even no stripes at all would be better suited. Horizontal stripes give the effect of an optical illusion that makes you look much wider than you realy are. Vertical stripes could sometimes make your torso look longer, but they can also curve around a bigger belly and make it look much more rounded. If you can, try to pick solid colors or different pattern types instead.
You’ll want to cut down and time with trying on different clothes when you’re shopping, so wear shoes and pants you can quickly take off/on. Just makes things go smoother with trying on so many clothes. If you’re like most people, all the snaps, tying/untying, and buttons is not the way to spend an afternoon or evening. Ok, to reduce hassle and save time – wear things you can quickly get into and out of. This will cut down on the amount of time you spend changing in the dressing room. Many stores have a limit to the number of clothes you can take into a dressing room, so this idea will help with that situation. So you can see that polo t-shirt is a topic that you have to be careful when you are learning about it.
When you buy jackets, look for single breasted lapels. You’ll look like you’re slimmer in a single breasted lapel jacket.
Formal wear is something that should be shopped for carefully, and, if you can afford it, have it tailored or even custom made. These days, there’s no reason ever why you can’t find the clothes you need and look really good in them. So you really shouldn’t have a hard time finding big and tall men’s stores and sizes. So you don’t really have to always use a specialty shop to find your size. Also, you may not be in the big and tall size group anymore with vanity sizing. Another thing to keep in mind is that some “normal” sizes are now called, big and tall – so more stores will have these size ranges. So it won’t be that tough to find your size with a little bit of creativity.
